CONFEDERATE FLAG COMES DOWN IN SC AS VICTIMS ARE LAID TO REST IN CHARLESTON

The victims of the South Carolina church shooting are now being laid to rest this week, with President Barack Obama giving the eulogy at Sentor Clementa Pickey’s funeral. The pastor, a sitting Senator, along with eight other members of historic Mother Emanuel Church were murdered
by white shooter Dylann Roof.

The victims are: Clementa Pinckney, the church’s pastor and a state senator representing the 45th District. Pinckney was elected to the state House at age 23, making him the youngest House member at the time.

Tywanza Sanders, 26 graduated from Allen University in Columbia in 2014 with a degree in business administration. Cynthia Hurd, 54 was a branch manager at the Charleston County Public Library. The branch where Hurd worked will be renamed after her. Rev. Sharonda Coleman-Singleton, 45 was a high school track coach and pastor. Myra Thompson, 59 was the wife of Reverend Anthony Thompson, Vicar of Holy Trinity Reformed Episcopal Church in Charleston. Rev. Daniel Simmons, 74 was a ministerial staff member. He died shortly after arrival at the hospital. Rev. DePayne Middleton-Doctor, 49 was an enrollment counselor at the Charleston campus of Southern Wesleyan University and mother of four. Susie Jackson, 87 was a longtime church member of the church. The three survivors included Sanders’ aunt and her granddaughter.
