Racial Tension In Jacksonville Florida

Racial tension is disrupting attitudes in the river city of Jacksonville Florida. Things are not so sunny and bright in the sunshine state.
We think what’s happening here is a very interesting story that should be more closely examined by the national news media.

Local civil rights activist Ben Frazier says “There are glaring racial disparities and iniquities in the areas of law enforcement, the criminal justice system, and economics.

Frazier says “We are speaking out in a demand for justice! The African American community in Jacksonville is underserved in city services and marginalized because of broken promises made by city officials more than 50 years ago.” Tallahassee, Fl.

On the political front the push by republican Governor Ron DeSantis for passage of his “Anti Riot Bill” has been condemned by Frazier and others as “An attack that specifically targets the first amendment rights of African Americans. This legislation is designed to oppress people of color,” said Frazier
Jacksonville, Fl. In recent weeks residents of the state’s largest city have engaged in an uncivil war of words as the school board decides whether to rename schools that honor confederates generals. This community confrontation is rooted in the issue of slavery, the very same argument that started the civil war of 1860. Frazier says We will continue to fight against the placement of Confederate monuments, names, and symbols on public property.”
It all started last June when the Duval County School Board voted to consider renaming schools that honor Confederate generals like Robert E. Lee.
