Gloster and Celia Buchannan (pictured) and Henrietta Haynes Wolfe received accollades on Saint Simons Island during the 21st Hall-Kornegay Families Reunion.
“Family reunions are very special occasions where we pride ourselves on maintaining and nurturing strong ties and traditions,” said Florida Congresswoman Corrine Brown. “We have found such traditions to bear the legacy of our elders and predecessors, as well as forge an unbreakable bond between our past, present and future. For many of us, family reunions provide a true and unaltered history of a family, a people, and indeed a nation.
We are therefore blessed to have such a strong and enduring family gathering which warms the soul, cradles the heart, and gives life and meaning to
our very existence.”
At 93 years young Henrietta A. Haynes Wolfe hasn’t slowed down one bit. During her lifetime, she has been a teacher, seamstress, dietician and so much more, holding high ranking positions throughout her colorful career.
Also being honored are Gloster and his wife Celia Buchannan. The 98 year-old and his blushing bride celebrated their 74th wedding anniversary last month.
The couple have been described as hardworkers who have lived their whole life on the island, while working tirelessly to better their community.
