Former Congressman Jesse Jackson, Jr has been transferred to another prison. Jackson, Jr. had been he was placed in solitary confinement after a guard at the North Carolina prison he was in claimed he was advising fellow inmates of their rights. The ex-congressman challenged the legitimacy of his detention.
His father, civil rights leader, Rev. Jesse Jackson confirmed that his son was indeed awarded transfer from the North Carolina facility he was serving his 30 month sentence in, to a federal prison in Alabama.
“He’s been very disciplined in his health-recovery regimen,” Rev. Jackson told media when asked about his son. “He’s been doing a lot of reading and writing.”
The former congressman, who was jailed over missing campaign funds is slated to be released in December 2015. His wife Sandi was convicted of filing false tax returns. She is set to serve a 12 month sentence upon her husband’s release.
