On Friday, July 18th, 2014, the Most Worshipful Union Grand Lodge of Florida, Free & Accepted Masons, Prince Hall Affiliated, honored one of its most cherished members, Dr. Henry Simmons of Jacksonville, Florida. Dr. Simmons is 12th Most Worshipful Grand Master “in succession” of the 144-year-old organization (Established 1870).
Nearly 300 individuals from across the state of Florida and several southern states graced the Grand Ballroom of Jacksonville’s Wyndham Hotel to honor Dr. Simmons for his
dedication and leadership given to the organization for more than 66 years of membership. M.W. Past Grand Master, Simmons will turn the ripe age of 95 in the Fall of this year
and was ecstatic regarding the Testimonial that was held in his honor.
Honorary Past Grand Master chaired the program committee, Dr. Johnny McCray (Jacksonville) and made up of a local Who’s Who Committee of Jacksonville’s Masonic leaders and female auxiliary members. The Right Worshipful Deputy Grand Master Walter Gulley of Pensacola, presided over the program and maintained the proper blend of fun, laughter, and masonic protocol throughout the evening.
