Jacksonville track star killed in Ga. car crash

LawrenceFormer Jacksonville high school and University of Georgia champion sprinter Torrin Lawrence died early Monday morning, July 28 in a car accident on Interstate 75 near Cordele, Ga.

A Jacksonville native, Lawrence captured Southeastern Conference and NCAA titles and set a collegiate record during his Georgia’s track and fi eld career from 2009-12 and graduated in 2013. He experienced one of the most prolific indoor careers in SEC history and still holds three-school records.
