HISTORIC: ALEXIS IS FIRST BLACK HOMECOMING QUEEN AT FREDERICA

Alexis Renee Mitchell is a senior at Frederica Academy on St. Simons Island.

On October 4, 2013, Alexis was crowned Saint Simons Island Frederica Academy’s 2013 1st African American Homecoming Queen. Alexis is the daughter of Gregory & Trinette Mitchell. She is a member of Zion Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Craig B. Campbell.

Also, Alexis sings in the youth choir, plays piano for Sunday School, and volunteers with Feeding the Community. In addition to her countless hours of community service, she renders her leadership qualities to several groups. Alexis has been a member of Pirates of the Spanish Main, a community service organization/high school sorority, for 3 years and has earned a helm position as Logbook Keeper.

She is captain of Frederica’s Varsity cheerleading squad, secretary of her senior class, member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and a member of the Student Advisory Board. Under the teachings of David & Sara Rollison, Alexis has been an assistant for the National Junior League of Cotillion for the past 3 years.

Alexis plans to participate in literary meets in the Spring as a solo vocalist. When graduated from Frederica Academy, Alexis aspires to attend Mercer University.
