Brunswick, Georgia… Local cops have recovered a weapon “possibly related” to the homicide of a13 month-old who was shot in the head, while the mother and aunt of one of the suspects charged with the killing have been arrested in connection with the case.
Georgia Karimah Aisha Elkins, 36, mother of 17 year-old De’ Marquise Elkins was arrested for giving false statements to law enforcement officials. She has since met bail. Also arrested was 33 year-old Katrina Latrelle Elkins (right), the aunt of the shooting suspect.
“Based on information obtained during Monday evening, the continuing investigations have recovered a weapon possibly related to the homicide last Thursday morning,” officials stated. “This new evidence has been sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s Crime Lab for an analysis. Investigators of the Glynn County Police Department received and followed up on information which led to the discovery of a weapon which was recovered early this morning.”
“The investigation to this point has been and continues to be aggressive and collaborative; the integrity and professionalism demonstrated by all agencies are truly second to none,” it was noted. “The Brunswick Police Department, under the direction of Chief Tobe C. Green and the Glynn County Police Department under the guidance of Chief Matt Doering will continue collectively with other members of the Violent Crime Task Force as this investigation continues, to be inclusive and informative.”
