For the first time in about 30 years, an American has won the Boston Marathon. The winner Meb Keflezighi, 39, had the names of the 2013 bombing victims on his bib. Greg Meyer, the last American man to win the race in 1983, embraced Keflezighi after his victory. In the marathon’s 118 year history, Keflezighi is the first African-American to cross the finish line first.
Rita Jeptoo of Kenya, won the women’s division for the second consecutive year. She also won in 2006. The last time an American woman won was in 1985.
