Angela Spears Moves Up in Mayor’s Office

Angela Spears has been elevated to the role of Special Assistant to the Mayor for Community Engagement. In that role, Spears will assist Mayor Brown in his efforts to
engage citizens throughout Jacksonville on key community priorities. In July 2011, Spears was appointed as the mayor’s Deputy Director of Communications. She previously worked as a
television anchor and reporter in Jacksonville and in Waco, Texas.

During her journalism career, Spears won Associated Press awards for her reporting. She has also worked as a community liaison for DaVita Dialysis and a public information officer for the Nassau County Sheriff’s Office. Spears graduated from the University of Texas at Austin, where she earned a journalism degree in 1995.
