In April 2007, The Florida Star celebrated its 56th anniversary. The paper was founded on April 15, 1951 by Eric O. Simpson, the first African American inducted into The Florida Press Association Hall of Fame.
We, the staff at The Florida Star, are committed to providing you with the lastest and most accurate news possible that affects the African American Community. That is how we became Northeast Florida’s oldest African American - owned newspaper with the most news and the largest circulation. We now have a subsidiary, The Georgia Star.
We are fully aware that our accomplishments are not only due to our hard-working staff, but we grew and prospered also because of you who gave us loyal support along the way. Again, thank you for your patronage. We look forward to serving you for many, many more years to come.
